Jakarta. President-elect Joko Widodo and his vice president, Jusuf Kalla, were handed their official security detail on Friday following the Constitutional Court’s confirmation of their election win earlier in the week. Their security had previously been the responsibility of the National Police. A handover ceremony was held on Friday at the General Elections Commission (KPU) headquarters.

Paspampres was not able to take control of the pair’s security until after the Constitutional Court had reached a verdict on losing candidate Prabowo’s Subianto’s appeal agains tthe results of the July 9 election.
Lieut. Col. Achmad Budi Handoyo from the presidential guard said scores of officers would be tasked with the security of the president, the vice president and the families of the two men.
“Each team consists of 37 officers… For the president [and vice president], 25 officers will be deployed and 12 officers will be guarding his spouse.”
