A 23-year-old model from West Sumatra has been crowned Miss Indonesia 2013.
Whulandary Herman beat 37 contestants, from 33 provinces across Indonesia, to take home the top title at the Puteri Indonesia beauty pageant in Jakarta on Friday night.
Marisa Sartika Maladewi of South Sumatra was the first runner-up and Cok Istri Krisnanda of Bali was the second runner-up.
Last year’s Miss Indonesia, Maria Selena, and Miss Universe 2012, Olivia Culpo of the United States, were on hand to crown the excited model.
“I am very happy, because this title as Miss Indonesia 2013 is a new achievement for me, hopefully I can make our country proud,” Whulandary said.
Whulandary will now represent Indonesia at the 2013 Miss Universe competition.
