TripAdvisor, one of the world’s largest travel sites, said its latest study examining the average of all individual review ratings submitted to its site worldwide showed that Indonesian properties scored above the world average.
According to the study, the average review rating travelers give Indonesian properties now stands at 4.15 out of a possible 5, above the global average of 4.01.
Accommodations in Indonesia also consistently scored high in terms of cleanliness, service and sleep quality, the site said in a statement over the weekend.
TripAdvisor also examined the difference in travelers’ average review ratings for Indonesia’s hotels versus bed and breakfasts. The results showed that B&Bs were slightly ahead of their hotel counterparts with an average review rating of 4.13, versus 4.10 for hotels.
“In the last 10 years, there has been a rapid increase in the number of travelers posting reviews about where they have stayed. Today’s findings show the wealth of information now available hasn’t just benefited other travelers, it has benefited the industry as well,” said Christine Petersen, the president of TripAdvisor for Business.
“Hotel and B&B owners have, it appears, clearly been listening to the free feedback they have received, and used it to improve the service they provide.”
TripAdvisor said the study was based on average review ratings, not property ratings, submitted between Jan. 1, 2012 and Sept. 21, 2012 of Indonesian properties listed on its site.
