Solo. A terrorist who allegedly attacked police in Solo, Central Java was arrested during the early hours of Wednesday morning in Depok, West Java.
“[We] arrested today at 5:30 AM an alleged terrorist named Firman in the Taman Anyelir II housing residences of Depok, Kalimulya. He had been on the police’s wanted list related to a attack in Solo,” National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Anang Iskandar said, as quoted by Antara news agency on Wednesday.
Dozens of members of the police anti-terrorist squadron Densus 88 had been searching a house owned by Nasuha, the uncle of the alleged terrorist, since late Tuesday night. Previously, the police raided Nasuha’s house but could not Firman there.
Later, on Wednesday morning, police searched Firman’s rented house, located just in front of Nasuha’s home in the Taman Anyelir II complex in Cilodong, Depok.
“He is just 19 or 20 years-old,” a Densus 88 member who refused to be named added. “He recently graduated from Islamic boarding school. The same as Farhan and Mukhsin — they’re all from the same batch.”
Farhan Mujahidin and Mukshin Sanny Permadi — both 19 years old — were gunned down by Densus 88 at a food stall in Solo during a previous incident. Police also arrested a man named Bayu.
According to a housing complex security guard, Firman had been staying in the rented house for only a week.
All of them were allegedly involved in a series of attacks in Solo, including shooting a police officer in Singorasen, Solo, Central Java.
“He [Firman] was with Farhan when he fired on a [police] post in Solo,” the source said.
Two officers were wounded after a strike against a police post on August 8.
