Long recognized for its long preparation times and time-consuming meals, French cuisine is now served in the simplest way at ORIENT8. The fine restaurant, located at the lower ground floor of Hotel Mulia Senayan, is now serving The Bistrot Business Lunch, perfect for Jakarta’s on-the-go business set.
That the dishes are prepared in a jiffy does not take away from their authenticity, or the premium produce used; while waiting, guests can take in the luxurious interiors of the 300-sq m, French colonial-inspired restaurant.
When putting together the menu for The Bistrot Business Lunch, chef Florian Lamelot kept dynamic Jakartans and their needs in mind, ultimately creating “something that is simple, quick and affordable”, he says. The delightful French menu also incorporates Pan-Asian elements: a coffee lover, for example, will be able to close his lunch with rich Vietnamese coffee.
Since opening some years ago, ORIENT8 has drawn on the cuisines of Europe and Asian locales like Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore to serve up its own brand of French and pan-Asian food. With this new offering, Lamelot, who boasts an innovative style and multiple-Michelin-star expertise, gives a nod to his clientele, which is largely made up of business people.
Hotel Mulia communications manager Andry Kurniawan adds that in France, a “bistrot” refers to a small eatery that serves moderately-priced, simple meals in a modest ambience. In the Indonesian context, the same reasonably-priced, earthy dishes and home-cooked goodness are boosted by ORIENT8’s lavish surrounds. GA
