The organizer of rock music festival Java Rockin’Land 2012 announced on Wednesday that it had decided to cancel the event, originally planned for July 6-8.
Dewi Gontha, a spokeswoman for Java Production, which promotes and organizes the event, said the cancellation was due to some international musicians’ inability to perform at the festival.
“There will be some festivals in Europe and Japan featuring big stars. After receiving some inputs, we’ve decided against organizing Java Rockin’Land this year because we don’t want only half of the artists making appearances,” Dewi told Indonesian news portal Beritasatu.com.
She admitted that Java Production had not contacted some of the artists soon enough, resulting in them being fully booked.
“We will fix this next year. We will approach them more quickly.”
Dewi said Java Production would now focus on Java Rockin’Land 2013, adding that the event might be held earlier than July so as to prevent scheduling conflicts with similar music festivals in other countries. Java Rockin’Land held its third annual festival in July of last year.
Dewi added that Java Production would still go forward with another music festival, the LA Light Java Soulnation Festival 2012, scheduled for Sept. 28 to 30.
Regarding ticket refunds, the event organizer has explained through its Twitter account @JavaRockingland that it will be handled next week, with information on the refund mechanism to be published on Friday at the latest.
