New Delhi. An Indian yoga guru who is leading a fast against corruption is threatening to intensify his protest if the prime minister doesn’t act decisively on his demand to bring back billions of ill-gotten gains that corrupt Indians have stashed in foreign banks.
Baba Ramdev has told thousands of his supporters in the Indian capital that if Prime Minister Manmohan Singh fails to give some assurance by Sunday evening, he will intensify his protest across the country. He said he would announce details on Monday.
Ramdev and thousands of his supporters say they haven’t eaten for the past three days to pressure the government to accept their demands, including an ombudsman law to keep checks on government and efforts to stop illegal money being sent to banks abroad.
