The State-Owned Enterprises Ministry on Wednesday named national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia as the state enterprise with best marketing.
Garuda was named “The Best BUMN Marketer 2012” during the BUMN Marketing Day 2012 in Jakarta, beating out 31 other state enterprise finalists. BUMN is an Indonesian acronym for state-owned enterprises.
“The aim of the award is to accentuate the corporate side of state-owned enterprises, so as to encourage innovations and creations,” State-Owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan said during the awards ceremony.
Indonesian news portal kompas.com reported that the assessment criteria were comprised of strategic positioning (brands, products, customer management), tactical positioning (communications, sales, customer service) and marketing breakthrough.
State-owned Bank BNI finished second after Garuda Indonesia, and Bank Mandiri rounded out the top three.
