Just days after winning the 2012 European Championship, Spanish stars Cesc Fabregas and Xabi Alonso will visit Jakarta for promotional events.
Fabregas, who scored two goals for Spain on its way to become the first team ever to retain the Euro trophy, will be the first arrive in the capital, greeting fans at the Sports Mall in Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, today at 1 p.m.
“My holiday have officially started today. Ill start it by going to have lunch in the best restaurant in London before i fly to INDONESIA!!!!” the 25-year-old midfielder wrote on his Twitter account on Tuesday.
“Jakarta here i come!!” he added.
Fabregas is visiting the country in his capacity as brand ambassador for a local biscuit product, Biskuat. It’ll be his second visit to Jakarta after he came last year for a similar promotional event.
Besides the meet and greet, Fabregas will also play an exhibition match at Gelora Bung Karno on Thursday afternoon. He will join the Fabregas and Friends team against the Indonesia Selection squad, which will be led by national team coach Nil Maizar.
The match, though, seems to have been hastily arranged, given that there has been no advertising about it.
“It’s because Gelora Bung Karno has already been booked by a church from Tuesday to Saturday. We had to ask their permission to use the stadium on Thursday,” said Niken Ayu of My Event, the company that organized the game. “This morning they allowed us to use the stadium so we started to sell only 20,000 tickets.”
The match will be broadcast live on RCTI from 5 p.m.
Alonso gets to Jakarta on Saturday. The 30-year-old Real Madrid midfielder will make an appearance in the “Indonesia Menendang Bola “ (Indonesia Kicks the Ball) a promotional event from peanut producer Kacang Dua Kelinci, which is one of Real Madrid’s official sponsors.
The event will be held at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta on Sunday.
Spain became the first team to win back-to-back Euro trophies after its 4-0 win over Italy in the final match at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev on Sunday.
