First Lady Kristiani Herawati refused to comment on an idea purposed by senior members of the Democratic Party that she would make a good presidential candidate in the 2014 presidential election.
“No comment,” she said on Tuesday at the State Palace. “I don’t think it is the right time to ask such a question.”
Kristiani, known as Ani, has been mentioned several times by Democratic Party members such as Ruhut Sitompul and the party communication division head Andi Nurpati as a potential candidate in the next election.
Andi said Ani had gained political experience while accompanying her husband as president for two terms.
“Ani has a good chance of being nominated because she is popular among the people,” she said recently.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said last year that none of his family members would run in the next election.
“I won’t be a presidential candidate in 2014, and neither will my wife or my children,” he said.
