A series of earthquakes hit Jayapura, Aceh and Ambon early on Monday.
A 5.7 earthquake hit the southwest of Oksibil, Bintang Mountains, Papua at 3:35 a.m.
According to the Climatology Meteorology and Geophysics Agency the earthquake could felt in Tanah Merah, Boven Digoel and Dekai, Yahukimo, Papua.
So far there are no reports from officials or local authorities about the damage or death toll caused by the quake.
An earthquake also hit the region of Sinabang, Nangroe Aceh Darussalam at 1:09 a.m. According to the Climatology Meteorology and Geophysics Agency, this 5.1 earthquake does not pose any tsunami threat.
Meanwhile, a 5.1 earthquake shook the city of Ambon, the capital of Maluku province at 4:45 a.m.
Head of Ambon Geophysics Station Benny Sipolo said the earthquake would not cause a tsunami.
Sipolo said the station will intensively monitor the earthquake progress. According to Sipolo, Maluku province is one of the regions that is prone to earthquakes and tsunamis because it is located on the confluence of three huge Pacific plates.
